In the bowl of your food processor, add the hemp hearts, nutritional yeast, garlic, basil, 6 tablespoon of lemon juice and salt (optional but recommended). Blend the ingredients until they’re smooth and creamy. You will have to stop and scrape down the sides.
If the pesto is too thick add more lemon juice a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

- ½ cup hemp hearts
- ½ cup nutritional yeast
- ½ cup fresh basil, packed
- 6-8 tbsp lemon juice, divided
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- salt, to taste
